Baroque - grandfather clock with large calendar case solid oak, partly turned and carved, one-piece case with inset Corinthian quarter columns with brass bases and capitals on flared, all-round welded base supported by claw feet, top curved head with glazed door and protruding Corinthian columns with brass bases and capitals, gilded, brass spindled pendulum movement with so-called "Dutch strike" on two bells and strike-setting by train. "large, engraved, gilded and partly painted brass dial with black roman numerals and arabic minuterie, small seconds below the "XII", laterally silvered displays for month and weekday with engraved figures, above the "VI" date display, in the dome moon phase with painted celestial bodies and date ring surrounded by river landscape with people, dial signed "W.=J.=UWEN EMBDEN", in the corners gilded bronze overlays, dial 48 x 33,5 cm, case H 246 cm, movement probably Amsterdam mid 18th century for the clockmaker W.J. Uwen in Emden, case North Germany 2nd half 19th century, overall good condition with minor signs of age and wear, movement functional, not tested for duration and accuracy, original pendulum, weights and crank present 4116 The movement represents a typical Dutch type and was probably made in Amsterdam, the complicated movement with large calendar and moon phase and the finely engraved and gilded dial represents one of the most elaborate examples of this provenance, interesting is the mention of a clockmaker from Emden
